The New Orleans Pelicans lost Anthony Davis to injury in the first half, but they gave the Portland Trail Blazers everything they could. But thanks to key bench contributions, the Blazers stayed close. They never pulled away, but kept a lead thanks to some big buckets from CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard. The Pelicans had no answers, and Portland won their 17th straight home opener, 103-93.

The Blazers were led by McCollum’s 23 points, Evan Turner’s 13 points and 4 assists, and Ed Davis’s 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lillard had an uncharacteristically quiet night, but still finished with 13 points and 7 assists.
