Without the concussed Jusuf Nurkic, the Portland Trail Blazers had no problem beating the Devin-Booker-less Suns Wednesday night. In a preseason pattern, Portland easily pulled ahead, and kept the Suns at bay throughout garbage time in the fourth quarter. However, the “hero of the game” was quite unexpected.
The Blazers were led by the one and only Meyers Leonard, who came off the bench to dominate the Suns with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Evan Turner also scored in double figures. Ed Davis pulled down 12 rebounds in a starting role.
Caleb Swanigan was ejected after a scuffle with Alex Len in the fourth quarter.
