Elliot Williams Signs Deal With The Golden State Warriors

Oft-injured former Blazers guard Elliot Williams has agreed to a deal with Golden State, but will need to compete for a roster spot.

Former Portland Trail Blazers draft pick Elliot Williams has landed in the Bay Area, after signing a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, as reported by Shams Charania of The Vertical. The value of the contract is still unknown, but is partially guaranteed. He'll still need to earn a spot in training camp to avoid being cut.

The former first-round pick was highly touted on his arrival in the Pacific Northwest after being selected at number 22 in the 2010 draft. But a slew of serious injuries, including his knee, shoulder and Achilles, resulted in the shooting guard playing in only 24 games during his three years with the Blazers.

Since 2013, Williams has spent stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz, New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies and in the NBA D-League before playing in Greece last year.

This gives Williams the chance to get back on the court and live up to some of his potential. However, he will almost certainly be spending most of his time on the bench, behind the already deep and talented Golden State back court.
