Newly acquired Portland Trail Blazers point guard Shabazz Napier will suit up with Portland's summer league team, according to Casey Holdahl of TrailBlazers.com, who reported from the introductory press conference for Festus Ezeli on Friday morning.

Napier will presumably slide into the starting lineup if he is serious about playing for the summer league squad, joining fellow roster players Pat Connaughton, Luis Montero, Noah Vonleh and Jake Layman. Former roster player Cliff Alexander, who was waived to make room for Festus Ezeli, will reportedly re-join the summer league squad if he clears waivers Saturday.
Pierre Jackson and Erick Green were previously the only two point guards on the roster. Jackson and Green spent most of their season in the NBA D-League, with Green getting called up to the Nuggets and Jazz for a total of nine games last season.
Napier was acquired via a trade with the Orlando Magic for cash considerations, which was made official Thursday. Napier, 24, is entering his third season and has averaged 15 minutes per game over his first two seasons. He's a career 34.7% 3-point shooter.
Napier will have a chance to get assimilated to Portland's offensive system in summer league.
The first game for Portland's summer league team is Saturday at 1 PM against the Phoenix Suns in Las Vegas.
