Trail Blazers Have "Shown Interest" In Re-Signing Gerald Henderson

Thought to be on his way out the door, Gerald Henderson reveals that the Blazers may still be mulling over re-signing him.

The Portland Trail Blazers are one of several teams to have shown interest in signing free agent guard Gerald Henderson, according to Jason Quick of CSNNW.

Henderson averaged 8.7 points and 2.9 rebounds for the Trail Blazers, playing just 19.9 minutes per game in his first season of coming off the bench. Signing with a new team would likely mean a return to a starting role for much more money.

By renouncing the cap hold on Henderson, the Trail Blazers could free up $9,000,000 to spend on other free agents, so it has been widely speculated that Henderson is as good as gone. The Trail Blazers could still technically renounce and re-sign him, but they would lose their ability to go over the cap to do so, making it near impossible to make an offer as large as he is likely to receive elsewhere.
