The contract is reportedly worth $35 million over those three years, with a player option included for the final season. Rivers averaged only 8.9 points and 1.5 assists per game during the 2015-16 NBA season, but captured public attention with a strong performance in the NBA Playoffs, starting in place of the injured Chris Paul.
