Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum has decided to withdraw from this summer's USA Select Team to focus on the upcoming season, according to Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com.
McCollum had been the most accomplished member of the Select Team, a squad of younger up and coming players that would scrimmage against the USA Olympic Team in preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics. His withdrawal will not lower his chances of eventually joining the National squad at some point in the future.
The 6'3" guard from Lehigh University had a breakout year last season, averaging 20.8 points per game and being named NBA Most Improved Player. He does have a rough injury history, which may have factored into his withdrawal.
