The Portland Trail Blazers will meet with free agent center Hassan Whiteside tomorrow morning, according to ESPN's Michael Wallace.
Wallace reports that Whiteside will also meet with the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers soon after the league lifts its ban on teams contacting free agents at midnight EDT tonight. Whiteside previously met with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat, his current team.
Regarding the free agent process, Whiteside said the following:
"I hope it's an easy decision," said Whiteside, who finished third in NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting and ranked in the top five in blocks, rebounds and field goal percentage last season. "I find it flattering because in my past I was trying to call teams [for tryouts]. Now it's the other way around."
It was previously reported that Whiteside hoped to make a decision by the end of the day on July 1.
Whiteside, the NBA's reigning blocks leader, is reportedly Portland's top free agent target this summer. They will need to renounce free agents Brian Roberts, Chris Kaman, and one of Gerald Henderson, Meyers Leonard, or Maurice Harkless to match the maximum offer that the Mavs are reportedly set to make.
