David Pick, Bleacher Report’s resident international basketball reporter, writes that the Portland Trail Blazers have extended a Las Vegas Summer League invitation to Patrick Christopher of the D-League’s Iowa Energy:
The Portland Trail Blazers extended a summer league invitation to 6'5" guard Patrick Christopher, who is mulling that and an offer from the D-League Select.
Christopher, 28, who registered 20 games in his third tenure with the Iowa Energy, averaged 15.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 dimes per game this season. He played overseas in Turkey and France, winning the President's Cup in 2012 with Besiktas Istanbul.
Christopher played four years of college ball at U.C. Berkeley from 2006 to 2010. He averaged 15.6 points per game in his senior season before going unselected in the following draft. As noted by Pick, Christopher has since experienced success overseas. He even got a brief chance to shine with the Utah Jazz in 2014-15, until he was waived upon suffering a dislocated kneecap.
If Christopher decides to accept the Blazers offer, he will be the first outside addition to their Summer League roster, joining Noah Vonleh, Cliff Alexander, Pat Connaughton, and Luis Montero, who were confirmed late last week.
