Gerald Henderson, Anderson Varejao Ejected From 40 Feet Away in 3rd Quarter

New, comments

Late in the third quarter of Sunday afternoon's Game 1 of the Western Coference Semifinals featuring the Golden State Warriors and the Portland Trail Blazers, Warriors center Anderson Varejao and Blazers guard Gerald Henderson were charged with offsetting technicals.

The events leading to the technicals were pretty cut and dry. Henderson initiated contact with Varejao, who promptly flopped. After seemingly realizing he was hitting the floor for no good reason, he threw his left leg into the back of Henderson's legs -- essentially leg-whipping him to the ground. Henderson took offense, and confronted Anderson.

In the closing seconds of the quarter, Varejao played the part of troll yet again. From the bench he goaded Henderson into a back and forth with him while the ball was in play. Varejao, talking from the bench got Henderson to say something backReferee Monty McCutcheon from nearly 40 feet away made the call to ring them both up for a double technical, again. Being both players' 2nd technical, they were immediately ejected from the game.

For those keeping track, Henderson was ejected for getting leg-whipped and trash-talked from a guy not in the game. It's been that kind of afternoon for Henderson who finished with 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in 16 minutes of play.
