The first two games of the playoff series between the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers saw a familiar theme: After a close stretch, the Clippers have taken over late and dominated, winning both games by 20 or more.
The Blazers returned serve at home, winning the next two to knot the series. However, in a shocking turn, both Chris Paul (broken finger) and Blake Griffin (aggravated torn quad) were injured and shut down for the rest of this playoff series.
In Game 6, the short-handed Clippers gave it a run, but the Blazers were just too much for them, pulling away in the fourth quarter to take a 3-2 lead.
Tonight in Portland, the Blazers have a chance to do something nobody predicted in the preseason: Pull off a first-round series victory. The last time they had that chance, it ended memorably.
