Portland Trail Blazers Head Coach Terry Stotts has won the NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month award for February, 2016.

The Blazers went 9-2 in February; the month was highlighted by a 137-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors. This is the third time Stotts has won Coach of the Month honors with the Blazers and the first time since December 2014. Stotts is now tied with Rick Adelman and Nate McMillan for the franchise lead for the award.

Stotts has led the Blazers to a 170-136 record in his four seasons with the team. Notably, Portland has overachieved in three out of four years with Stotts at the helm. This season, for instance, the Blazers have a record of 32-28 and are battling for a playoff seed, despite pre-seasons expectations suggesting they would struggle to win 30 games.

Blazer's Edge recently published a staff roundtable exalting Stotts' success in Portland.

Here's the text of the official press release from the Blazers:

PORTLAND, Ore. (March 1, 2016) - Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts has been named the Western Conference Coach of the Month for February, it was announced today by the NBA.

Stotts, who is currently in his fourth season at the helm, led Portland to a 9-2 record in the month of February, the third best mark in the NBA. It's also the third best record during February in franchise history.

Out of Portland's nine victories in February, seven came against teams at or above a .500 winning percentage on the day of the game. The Trail Blazers won a season-best six consecutive games from Feb. 6 to Feb. 23.

At 32-28, the Trail Blazers are a season-high four games over .500. With a 111-102 win at Indiana on Feb. 28, Portland became the fifth team in the NBA this season to win at least five consecutive games on the road.

In the month of February, Portland ranked fourth in the NBA in both scoring (110.6 ppg) and three-pointers per game (11.0), while limiting opponents to 102.6 points (T-10th).

This is the third time that Stotts has received Coach of the Month honors, tying Rick Adelman and Nate McMillan for the most by a Trail Blazers head coach. He previously won the award in December 2014 and November 2013.

Stotts joins Adelman (3), McMillan (3), Mike Dunleavy (2), Jack Ramsay and Mike Schuler as Portland coaches who've won the award.

Boston's Brad Stevens was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month.
