Marc Gasol Breaks Right Foot, Out Indefinitely

A Western Conference rival gets awful news.

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal is reporting that Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies has a broken right foot and will be out indefinitely. Tillery notes that Gasol was playing through the injury and that the Memphis coaching staff was aware.

Last Saturday, Gasol and Griz coach Dave Joerger acknowledged that Gasol was playing with an injury. Gasol started Monday night but departed late in the first quarter of the Grizzlies' 112-106 overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Gasol was cleared to play and not at risk to further injure himself.

Gasol is currently averaging 16.6 points, 7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 blocks.

Also of note, HardwoodParoxysm points out that if the Grizzlies stumble post All-Star break and don't make the playoffs or win the lottery, they will owe their 1st round pick to the Denver Nuggets.

For the full rundown from Tillery you can continue the read here.

With a 30-22 record, the Grizzlies sit in 5th place in the conference, 4.5 games ahead of the 26-27 Trail Blazers who currently own the 9th spot.
