Ladies and Gentlemen of Blazer's Edge and Portland Trail Blazers fans everywhere, we are proud to announce that we have EXCEEDED our goal of sending 2000 underprivileged kids and chaperons to see the Portland Trail Blazers play the Sacramento Kings on March 28th. Because of your generosity, because you donated tickets by twos and threes and tens (and in a couple cases even by 100's), 2033 people will get to go to that game.
In the vast majority of cases, these young folks would not have gotten to go except for you. You've allowed us to turn to teachers, coaches, foster parents, and community workers across the region, saying, "Tell your kids they're going." You've also allowed us to send those adults who work so hard for these kids. You've brought classrooms together. You've inspired math lessons and recess conversations. You've allowed grandmothers to wrap their arms around grandkids who have very little and say, "Guess what, honey?" You have made an incredible difference.
Because of you, on March 28th, 2016 over 10% of the Moda Center audience will be comprised of happy, cheering, wide-eyed young Blazers fans. 2033 people. That number is incredible.
Thank you so much. Thanks for supporting these kids and this cause. Thank you for helping us define Portland Trail Blazers fandom beyond wins and losses, beyond names on jerseys. Thanks for taking us back to our roots when we were all together, all supporting each other, making amazing things possible.
Congratulations to everyone who reads here, to our national media and local radio audiences, to all who donated, to our ever-helpful Blazers ticket representative Lisa Swan, to ticket coordinators Dan and Jo, and most of all to everyone who will be going that night. Enjoy!
