Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports that the Portland Trail Blazers have acquired point guard Brian Roberts and a second round draft pick from the Miami Heat. The Heat received Roberts from the Charlotte Hornets in a 3-team trade on Tuesday.

Roberts will theoretically replace Tim Frazier, who the Blazers waived in order to acquire Anderson Varejao, as the team's backup point guard.
Per Wojnarowski, the Roberts deal drops the Heat out of luxury tax territory, saving them $6 million. The Blazers have craftily upgraded their backup point guard position and crept away with a draft pick by easing yet another team's salary burden.
