Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard is getting national attention once again, this time via entertainment/gossip powerhouse TMZ. The site gave props to Lillard's latest release, "They Sleep", which chronicles his frustration with being snubbed for the All-Star team.

We asked Damien [sic] about the song -- he told us, "It's just a break in the season and how I've been feeling. My thoughts. That's all."

Despite the misspelled name, the mention is further proof that Dame's brand extends far beyond the Rose City...maybe the only thing about the Blazers rising to the level of national attention right now. I think it's safe to say that if Lillard is going to get mentioned on TMZ, this is one of the better ways to do it.

You can listen to "They Sleep" right here.

Lyrics below:

Jahlil Beats, holla at me

[Brookfield Deuce]

They don’t want to see us win
Nah
So guess what we gon’ do
We gon’ win
That’s a major key
Yeah, I’m in the major leagues
Yeah, I’m center stage, fanboy
You can take a seat
Watch me drop 40 down your tonsils
The snubs we know end with nostrils
It’s hostile what it cost you
Kids off the old block
Chalk line environment
Yeah, the chips all we got
Retire, boy, we gon’ be here for a minute
Nate charge by the hour
He invoicing all the critics
They Leave us cut from the sentence
Til y’all just did a sentence
Told ‘em come A&R
Could control all the tenants
Feeling like I’m a yankee
All I swiped is the pennant
I been dumbing down the flow
Cuz most of y’all wouldn’t get it
Alright, phone yeah I’m in it
The pretty chicky, I’m in it
I’m buyin’ when cats is written
That’s how a dog got to get it
A ‘G’ up in the game
Brown sandals, white linen
How the hell I’ma lose?
Aint no ‘L’ in ‘I’m winnin’
Brookfield don’t allow that
We never coming down
Satellites go around that
I sound like I’m comfortable
You think you dope
But you sound like a busta do
I’m hungry, you a lunchable
He said he was only short 10
Why you bust him for?
I said he take that
Aint no tellin’ what he tellin’ for
Don’t make me go the trill
These players funnel in
When they gone, you won’t miss ‘em though
Why you in these halls
It’s gon’ feel like detention though
Class is in session
We either win or we learn
We never lose
So this hate is a lesson
Finessin’ while y’all stressin’
My presence here is a blessin’
Would tell ‘em ‘wake up’
But I’m out and they aint dressin’
They sleep

[Dame D.O.L.L.A.]

It shall come to the light
Everybody grab your shades
Cuz your boy that bright
It shall come to the light
So everybody grab your shades
Cuz your boy that bright
Let me holla at y’all ‘bout a few things quick
I’m as humble as they come, but my shoe game lit
I ain’t make the All-Stars, but I’m flu game sick
Last time they count me out, what I do Game 6?
You know the answer
But keep it to yourself
I really love this game, man
It’s deeper than the wealth
I was taught to play for keeps, but never keep it to yourself
Real recognize real and I only see myself
I see a lot of things different
but I’m blaming my environment
Ism I was getting is the reason y’all admire him
Ten toes down
And that’s just a requirement
That private housing peaceful when you used to hearin’ sirens
See I’m a major key
You suckas aint a factor
And grams said you’d get it, but I’m getting to it faster
I done did financial aid
I even did a FAFSA
Made it to the league
I savvy in the streets
And crafty with the rock though
Cruisin’ like a Porsche, but still looking out for potholes
Money got a smell
They was watching me at Roscoe’s
I was on alert
Seizin’ syrup on your waffles
I’m nothing like these others
My swag stay the same
I got a lot of cash, but I aint after the fame
Cuz that’s just a shame
I don’t need the validation
But y’all do y’all
I hope you reach your aspirations
I been told that I was petty
And I don’t beg to differ
Cuz I come from the basement
You could call me Big Tigger
My moves calculated
Man, I’m somethin’ like The Riddler
Movin’ on from you cons
I hardly take shots
But when I do, I swish ‘em
And then we have a party
Call that a Bar Mitzvah
See I don’t play games
I’d rather work the system
They aint put in that time
and D.O.L.L.A.’s what it gets ‘em
I hardly care ‘bout the critics
I’m killin,’ they won’t admit it
Underdog robbed the cradle and they tryna babysit it
Raised around goons
We aint much into the gimmicks
Play dumb, but really smart
I used to rock that academics
They been sleepin’ on me heavy for a very long time now
Big O - respect, bout to start cutting in line now
I be on some other
Getting harder to wind down
I pull into my gate and see I built myself a compound
I’m hard to satisfy
But I be feelin’ gratified
A lot to be thankful for, simply bein’ alive
Doin’ this for the town
It’s in my to be the pride
I’m a soldier, ask around
Nobody could ever question it
Beef or get along
I aint really got a preference
watching from a distance
And put together evidence
I always been the type that had to know who I was messin’ with
The land of the strong
I was made by the struggle
Learnt a lot early
I was saved by the trouble
Lot of friends in the grave that was gauged by the shovel
I’m poppin’ boy, these haters throwin’ blades at the bubble
So I’m watching out for they
Just watch what I say
It’s some folks up in your circle with they eyes on your pay
But save it for another day
I aint tryna cause friction
I aint tryna cause problems
I aint tryna cause distance
That’s none of my concern
Let me stay up in my element
Even though it bother me that y’all ignore the elephant
He gon’ change culture cuz he brings some type of relevance
So I don’t give a ‘Woooooooo!’
And I plan on stayin’ celibate
They sleep
