NBA: Preseason-Portland Trail Blazers at Golden State Warriors Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Trail Blazers continue their long road trek tonight, playing a 7:30 pm game against the Golden State Warriors. It’s no secret that the Warriors are dominant; it’s also no secret that the Blazers are not. Plus, Al-Farouq Aminu is doubtful tonight, and the Warriors’ David West is questionable. Tune in, perhaps we’ll all get an early Christmas surprise.

Speaking of Christmas, how about a song? One my least favorite songs of the holiday season has been “Santa Baby”. The original Eartha Kitt version never grew on me, and the ‘80s cover by Madonna was dreadful. However, overseas pop legend Kylie Minogue did a surprisingly nice version, and the song has been more prominent in recent years. If you listen to US radio, you probably know the well-crafted country-pop concoction by Taylor Swift. Michael Buble did a version as well, but he’s currently not allowed in Gameday Threads after what happened last time.

However, a unique twist was placed on the song by Oakland-born Sheila E. A protégé of the late, great Prince, she rose to stardom with the song The Glamorous Life. Still making music to this day, she put together a Latin Jazz fusion version of Santa Baby. Enjoy the change of pace.
