The road trip from heck finally ends tonight. After three consecutive disheartening losses, the Portland Trail Blazers crossed the country to play the Los Angeles Clippers tonight. The Clippers and Blazers are both frustrated, and could turn this game into a chippy affair. It’s possible the Clippers will even discuss their dissatisfaction with the officiating at some point.
The Blazers will likely have the services of Moe Harkless tonight, but Al-Farouq Aminu was doubtful as of Sunday.
Let’s toss out a couple Christmas songs tonight. First, another singer we lost this year, the Los Angeles-born Natalie Cole. Well, technically she passed on December 31, but most of us didn’t learn of it until New Year’s Day. Best known for her duets album with her late father, Nat “King” Cole, she also did some Christmas duets as well. Here is their version of “The Christmas Song”.
Bonus song tonight from a more modern artist. Zooey Deschanel grew up in Hollywood around her director/producer Dad, and her actress Mom (Did you know that her mother, Mary Jo Deschanel, had a recurring role on Twin Peaks?). She is also half of the duo She and Him, who released a surprisingly-solid Christmas covers album in 2011. You know, if you can tolerate that whole “hipster sound” thing. Here’s their cover of the Beach Boys’ “Little Saint Nick”.
(It’s so weird to see Zooey in “Elf” considering her modern style)

1. No videos or pictures please, including embedded stuff from Twitter.
2. No discussion of streams that aren't sanctioned by the NBA, or how to work around broadcast/streaming rules.
3. No swearing please. Yep, even when the game sucks or the refs mess up.
4. Be excellent to each other! For visitors from our SBN companions, please have a mutual respect and remember this is a Blazers community.
Have fun! -- Tim
