NBA: Portland Trail Blazers at Memphis Grizzlies Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Trail Blazers continue their five-game road trip in Brooklyn, taking on the Nets this afternoon. The Nets are reeling, having just completed a 1-4 road trip across the US. As many analysts state, the first home game after a road trip is like one more road game. Of course, the Blazers are reeling too after being blown out in three consecutive games, including an ugly loss in New Orleans Friday night.

New York already has one team, so let’s play a little music from the Nets’ former home, New Jersey. We’ll try to avoid some of the obvious choices for now. A few of our GDT denizen recommended the uncannily-aptly-named Misfits, and I can’t blame them.

But let’s go with a very different old-school band, the namesake of the incredibly popular play, Jersey Boys. The Four Seasons helped popularized their genre of vocal pop in the early 60s, before the arrival of The Beatles. After a string of hits, they became inevitably passé. But despite the group’s troubles, they found a way to replace most of the members, and return with a major hit in the 70s. In fact, it was so successful, it reached the top 20 again in the mid-90s.
