Portland Trail Blazers guard Evan Turner had one of his best games of the season against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, scoring 14 points and dishing out five assists. Now he is determined to assist Portland off the court as well. Teaming up with CenturyLink, Turner has joined the “Hearts & Hoops” initiative, which will bring food to families in need this holiday season, with your help.

“I always try to reach out and give back to the community.” Turner told Blazer’s Edge. “Obviously, I was fortunate enough to have CenturyLink want to team up and do it on a broader scale. This way, we can reach more and more families and more and more people to donate. In turn, the result and outcome will be huge.”

Turner will be at the Lloyd Center tonight from 6:00-7:00 p.m., so head on down to donate canned and boxed goods to the Oregon Food Bank. For updates on more drop-off dates, follow him on Twitter @thekidet and follow CenturyLink @CenturyLinkOR.

Turner will also be involved in the Trail Blazers’ annual “Read Big” book collection this December.
