Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors was selected for his first ever Western Conference Player of the Week award on Monday. CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers, J.J. Redick of the Los Angeles Clippers, and LaMarcus Aldridge of the San Antonio were also nominated. Per the NBA.com release:
Green helped the Warriors to a 3-1 week behind averages of 18.8 points, 11.3 rebounds (tied-fourth in the Western Conference) and 9.5 assists (fourth in the conference). Green recorded two triple-doubles, raising his league-leading total to six on the season. On Jan. 2, Green powered the Warriors with 29 points, 17 rebounds and 14 assists in a 111-108 overtime win against the Denver Nuggets.
McCollum led the Blazers to a 2-1 record, averaging 28.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game. His explosion against the Sacramento Kings on December 27 was technically one day outside the weekly window. It would have brought the Blazers' record to 3-1 in the Warriors-equivalent four games, and his averages to 30.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
