The Portland Trail Blazers have announced that center Mason Plumlee will participate in tryouts for Team USA this month. Plumlee won gold with the national squad in the 2014 FIBA World Cup. The 34-man roster currently includes 4 other high-profile centers: Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Andre Drummond, and DeAndre Jordan. The tryouts are the initial step in determining the United States Olympic Team for 2016's games in Rio.

Plumlee rejoins Team USA after winning gold at the 2014 FIBA World Cup
PORTLAND, Ore. (August 6, 2015) - Portland Trail Blazers center/forward Mason Plumlee is among 34 players scheduled to attend the USA Basketball Men's National Team minicamp August 11-13 in Las Vegas, it was announced today by USA Basketball.
Plumlee was a member of USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski's elite 12-man roster that won the gold medal at the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
Portland acquired Plumlee and the draft rights to guard Pat Connaughton in a NBA Draft night deal with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for guard Steve Blake and the draft rights to Arizona forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
Plumlee, 25, has posted averages of 8.1 points (60.6% FG, 54.5% FT), 5.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.78 blocks and 19.9 minutes in 152 career games (67 starts) over two seasons with Brooklyn.
A 2013-14 NBA All-Rookie First Team selection, Plumlee (6-11, 235) was selected by the Nets with the 22nd overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft out of Duke.
The 2015 USA National Team minicamp will feature practices on Aug. 11-12, and the minicamp will conclude on Aug. 13 (7:30 p.m. PDT) with the 2015 USA Basketball Showcase, a USA Blue versus USA White exhibition game at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The 2015 USA National Team minicamp and Basketball Showcase are the first steps in the selection process for the USA Men's National Team roster that will represent the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
