It is anticipated that Malcolm Thomas will be the newest addition to the Portland Trail Blazers' Las Vegas Summer League roster, according to Jabari Young at Comcast SportsNet.
Thomas has bounced around the league throughout his four-year career, including brief stints with the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and Utah Jazz, and Philadelphia 76ers. He has also played overseas in South Korea, Israel, and Puerto Rico. Thomas' most recent NBA action came with the 76ers in 2014-15, where he averaged career highs of 2.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17 games.
The 6'9" forward graduated from San Diego State in 2011, but has yet to find a permanent place in the NBA. With his activity as a rebounder (8.1 boards per game as a college senior, and 10.4 per game in 12 D-League games in 2013-14) and defensive mobility, he should be able to make an impact in Las Vegas and have an outside chance of earning a training camp invitation from the Blazers.
Here are highlights from Thomas' monster 36-point, 18-rebound double-double with the Los Angeles D-Fenders during the 2013-14 season:
