Has Alonzo Gee Finally Found A Home In Portland?

New, comments

The well-traveled Gee made some fans in Portland, but is that enough to finally unpack his bags for a spell?

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

When the Blazers traded Thomas Robinson, Will Barton, and Victor Claver for Arron Afflalo at the trade deadline, Alonzo Gee was somewhat seen as a throw-in. And for good reason: Portland was Gee's seventh NBA team in just eight months. That's not the kind of thing that inspires confidence in a player's longevity.

However, it didn't take long before signs appeared that the Blazers were specifically interested in Alonzo. Moda Center fans quickly found Gee easy to root for. And Blazer's Edge's Willy Raedy did an extensive write-up on Gee's usefulness on the court, and how may fit into Terry Stotts' system.

Despite injuries across the roster, Blazer fans didn't get much of a chance to see Alonzo in action, as he played a total of 151 minutes, totaling 51 points and 24 rebounds. As injuries mounted, Stotts did play Gee outside of garbage time, but not long enough to form any lasting impressions. He did have a few highlight plays, but was perhaps best known for a harmless blooper, blowing a late garbage-time dunk in Toronto days after having dental surgery.

Gee is a free agent, and can go to any team he chooses. Did you see anything in Alonzo's stint as a Blazer that makes you excited about his possible return?
