Today NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke briefly about the possibility of the NBA All-Star Game coming to Portland.
Silver says the limitations for Portland getting an All-Star Game is mainly an issue of hotel rooms. Needs to make sure "we can fit in town"

Silver also said "it's too early to say" about the prospects of Portland getting an ASG in 2017 or 2018

The hotel room argument is a classic at this point. The NBA tends to favor exciting destinations and teams with new arenas. Portland not qualifying (in some people's minds) in either category may have as much to do with the continued omission as space. We'll see if that changes.
