CJ McCollum Addresses Critics In The Media

The Trail Blazers' third-year guard understands that media members have a job to do, but plays with a chip on his shoulder.

Following a 27-point performance in the Portland Trail Blazers' 108-92 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, starting shooting guard CJ McCollum had some pointed comments toward the media, specifically regarding his perceived lack of the athleticism.

Here is a portion of McCollum's statement regarding the efficient use of his floater, as reported by Trail Blazers Beat Writer Casey Holdahl on ForwardCenter.net.

"That’s the shot I’ve had since eight, nine years old. It’s the shot I’ve worked on just because, like you guys say, ‘He’s not super athletic, he’s not super fast, he’s not super quick.’ So when you get into the lane and you’re not as athletic as those elite two-guards like you guys say, then you’ve got to be able to use a floater, and that’s what I do."

Holdahl's full report can be found here.

McCollum and the Blazers return to the Moda Center to take on the Memphis Grizzles tonight at 7:30 p.m. PST. The game will be nationally broadcast on TNT.
