Meyers Leonard (Shoulder) Likely Out A Minimum Of 4-6 Weeks

Orthopedic surgeon suggests Leonard could miss a minimum of 4-to-6 weeks unless the Blazers opt for season ending surgery.

Jason Quick of CSNNW spoke with orthopedic surgeon Brian Schulz to gauge the recovery time we can expect for Meyers Leonard, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in Wednesday’s 113-101 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Although Schulz has not examined Leonard directly, he suggested that a minimum of 4-to-6 weeks is likely the best case scenario:

"He may try to rehab 4-to-6 weeks, but there is a risk he may dislocate again,’’ Schulz said. "Or they could take the aggressive approach of surgery, but that would probably end his season. Or they could rehab it to get it strong enough, then operate when the season is over.’’

Leonard was evaluated this morning. We will update his status when the results of his evaluation come in. In the meantime, Quick’s full article can be found here.

This afternoon, the Blazers' Casey Holdahl announced that Leonard will miss Friday night's game vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.
