Folks, it's time for our favorite announcement of the season.
Every year Blazer's Edge sends underprivileged children and their chaperons to a Portland Trail Blazers game free of charge. What started as a kind gesture by a single reader years ago has blossomed into a program that has sent thousands of children who otherwise couldn't attend a game to their first, and maybe only, game of the season...or their lives. Last year alone we sent over 1000 kids and chaperons to this special event.
And this year we're going to double it.
That's right, double it.
I am pleased to announce that Blazer's Edge Night for the 2015-16 season will be Monday, March 28th as the Portland Trail Blazers take on the Sacramento Kings in the Moda Center.
We are sending out the call right now for teachers, principals, counselors, foster families, youth organizations, and coaches who work with underprivileged children who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend a game. Over the years we have told so many people, "Yes, you can go!" We've heard the screams and cheers of delighted children, watched families and classrooms bond, and helped create the next generation of Trail Blazers fans...passing on an experience that has inspired passion in us all. We will say yes to you too. Send your request to blazersub@gmail.com and we will start organizing all 2000 of you so you can come on March 28th.
For the rest of us, here's how this happens. This is a grassroots movement. Blazer's Edge readers donate tickets 1, 2, 5, 10 at a time...sometimes more if you have the means. You order the tickets online and they're put in the pool to be distributed to kids in need. It's as easy as ordering tickets yourself but far more satisfying.
Tickets are automatically donated when you purchase them through this link:
http://www.rosequarter.com/blazersedge
Promo Code: BLAZERSEDGE
Ticket Costs range through three levels: $7, $9, and $13 (There is a $5 processing fee per order.)
You can also call our ticket rep, Lisa Swan, directly at 503-963-3966 if you'd like to order that way. You will need to indicate to her that you are donating the tickets you order to Blazer's Edge Night.
If you can spring for the more expensive tickets, please help us get those out of the way first. But we made it possible for even kids or college students or almost anyone
So what are you waiting for, Blazers fans? 2000 kids and chaperons are waiting for you. Let's make this the biggest and best Blazer's Edge Night ever!
