Celtics Trade Brandan Wright To Suns; Jeff Green Likely Headed To Grizzlies

Western Conference teams continue to pilfer the Eastern Conference for roster boosts.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Two Western Conference teams made significant acquisitions this afternoon from the Boston Celtics.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports that Brandan Wright has been traded to the Phoenix Suns from the Celtics.

The Suns will send the Celtics the 2015 first-round draft pick they own from the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources told Yahoo.

The pick is protected from Nos. 1-12 in the 2015 and '16 drafts. If the Timberwolves hold onto it through both drafts, they will then instead send their 2016 and '17 second-round picks

The power forward/center was selected in the 2007 draft at No. 8 by the Charlotte Bobcats. He has spent time with Golden State Warriors, New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, and most recently the Celtics.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports also reports that the Celtics forward Jeff Green is likely headed to the ‎Memphis Grizzlies as soon as details can be finalized.

Memphis will send Tayshaun Prince and a first-round draft pick to the Celtics, league sources said. The protected pick likely won't be available until 2018 or '19, sources said.

The Celtics and Grizzlies are awaiting final authorization from a third team involved in the deal to complete the trade, league sources said.

While the trade is not official, ESPN's Marc Stein says it's considered as such by the Grizzlies:

Green is a small forward/power forward who was selected by the Celtics at No. 5 in the 2007 draft.  He played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and then returned to the Celtics.
