Zach Lowe at Grantland included a tidbit about LaMarcus Aldridge's pending free agency amongst rumors he was hearing from NBA Executives at the D-League Showcase. It's number 12 in a list of 13:
12. This could be random, but nearly a half-dozen executives from different teams mentioned the possibility of the Spurs luring LaMarcus Aldridge in free agency with a max contract.
The Spurs' end goal would be a quick rebuild, teaming Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard as the core of the new team.
Lowe makes it clear that he doesn't see it happening due to Aldridge's loyalty and the Blazers' deep pockets, but he's heard these rumors from multiple executives for a couple of weeks.
Aldridge will be one of four unrestricted free agents for the Blazers this summer, along with Robin Lopez, Wesley Matthews and Joel Freeland. The Blazers had LaMarcus Aldridge's "Bird Rights", meaning they can go over the salary cap to keep him. They can also offer him more money than any other team in the NBA this summer, including a fifth year.
