Reports: Blazers Begin Filling Out 2014 Las Vegas Summer League Roster

The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly in the process of filling out their 2014 Las Vegas Summer League roster.

The 2014 NBA Draft is now over, which means it's time to turn our attention to Las Vegas Summer League.

The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to have Will Barton, Allen Crabbe, Joel Freeland, Meyers Leonard, CJ McCollum, and Thomas Robinson on their roster this year, and reports of additional roster invites are beginning to come in.

Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press reports that Michigan State University point guard Keith Appling will play for Portland in Las Vegas...

Appling and his agent, Michael Silverman, chose Portland among multiple offers, Silverman said.


"This is an ideal situation for Keith," Silverman said of the Detroit Pershing product. "The guys behind (Portland starting point guard Damian Lillard) are older, and we think Keith really has a chance to fight for a spot here."

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders reports on Twitter that Weber State University guard Davion Barry -- who hails from Oakland like Damian Lillard -- will play for Portland.

Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com reports on Twitter that Idaho Stampede center Dallas Lauderdale will play for Portland again. Update: Apparently Lauderdale will be scratched due to an ankle injury.

Michael Scotto of SheridanHoops.com reports on Twitter that Iowa State forward and 2010 first-round pick Craig Brackins will play for Portland.

James Pigott of WestCoastConvo.com reports that Gonzaga center Sam Dower will play for Portland.

The Portland Trail Blazers will tip-off their 2014 Samsung NBA Summer League schedule on Saturday, July 12 vs. New York, the NBA announced today.

The Trail Blazers will follow up their NBA Summer League opener vs. the Knicks at COX Pavilion with a game on Sunday, July 13 vs. Houston (Thomas & Mack Center), before closing out the preliminary round on Tuesday, July 15 vs. Atlanta (COX Pavilion).

Following the three-game preliminary round, the NBA Summer League returns to a tournament format for the second consecutive year, with each team guaranteed a minimum of five games. The championship game will take place on Monday, July 21.

All Trail Blazers games will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet, with Mike Barrett, Mike Riceand CSN's Dwight Jaynes calling the games live from Portland.

The Blazers are one of 24 teams competing for the second-annual Las Vegas Summer League title. Earlier this month, the NBA officially set the dates for the 2014 Las Vegas Summer League. Games will run from Friday, July 11, through Monday, July 21.

The Blazers have participated in Summer League every year since 2005, with the exception of 2011, when the lockout wiped out the event. They went 1-5 during the 2013 Summer League.
