The Portland Trail Blazers assigned rookie guard Allen Crabbe to the D-League's Idaho Stampede on Tuesday for the second time this season.
The Portland Trail Blazers have assigned rookie guard Allen Crabbe to the NBA Development League's Idaho Stampede, it was announced today by General Manager Neil Olshey.
Crabbe, 21, is averaging 2.1 points, 0.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 5.1 minutes in 14 games for the Trail Blazers this season. Acquired by Portland in a draft day trade with Cleveland, Crabbe was the 31st overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft out of California.
Crabbe averaged 16.7 points (42.6 FG%) and 5.3 rebounds in three games during his first assignment to the Stampede from March 10-16.
Idaho plays host to Bakersfield on Wednesday at 6 p.m. (Pacific). The game can be watched live on YouTube.
Update (Sunday): Crabbe has been recalled from the D-League. Crabbe's latest stint was highlighted by a 26-point (on 10-for-16 shooting), eight-rebound, three-assist effort against the Reno Bighorns on Friday. In his two other games, he shot a combined 9-for-32. Idaho lost all three games.
On the season, Crabbe is now averaging 16 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in six appearances for the Stampede. He is shooting 41.1 percent overall and 31.6 percent from deep.
Here's a highlight reel from his 26-point night via YouTube user nbadleague.
Original Post: Crabbe was previously assigned to the Stampede earlier this month.
With both LaMarcus Aldridge (back) and Joel Freeland (knee) sidelined, Crabbe has been on Portland's active list for the last few games. He played 10 minutes in a blowout loss to the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday and logged two minutes in a double-digit victory over the Washington Wizards last week.
Last month, it was announced that the Blazers and the Stampede planned to part ways after the 2013-14 season. Stampede Managing Investor Bill Ilett said at the time that the two teams planned to continue to work together for the balance of this season, even though the Blazers have barely used the affiliate this year.
The Blazers assigned rookie guard CJ McCollum to the D-League for two games back in January.
The Stampede are currently 23-21 and just outside the D-League's playoff picture.
