Blazers Owner Paul Allen Wins First Pro Sports Title As Seahawks Destroy Broncos In Super Bowl XLVIII

Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen captured the first title of his career as a professional sports owner when the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen won a championship for the first time during his career as a professional sports owner when the Seattle Seahawks destroyed the Denver Broncos, 43-8, in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday.

The Microsoft co-founder purchased the Blazers in 1988 and the Seahawks in 1997. His teams had competed for championships on three previous occasions -- the Blazers in the 1990 and 1992 Finals, and the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL -- but came up short all three times.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell presented the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Allen in a post-game ceremony.

"It's such an amazing feeling to be able to take the Lombardi Trophy back to Seattle and the people of the Northwest," Allen said. "The 12th Man has supported us in such an amazing way all year."

Allen went on to thank coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider.

Allen recently met with Portland media members at the Moda Center to discuss the Seahawks' run through the playoffs.

It's amazing. This is my second time. It's been an incredible year for the Seahawks. The support of the fans has been amazing. Then, just the way the team has come together, the way the defense has played, the way our offense has been able to make timely plays like they did in the NFC championship, Russell Wilson's performance in his second year. All that has carried us to the Super Bowl and it's been an amazing experience for the fans and for me as an owner.
