Foot Locker has hopped on the Adidas/Damian Lillard fame train with a new commercial featuring the young Blazers star with former NBA great Tracy McGrady. Here's a look at the spot:
Here's the press release from Foot Locker:
NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2014 - Foot Locker, Inc. (NYSE: FL), the New York-based specialty athletic retailer, continues to celebrate the holiday season by debuting a new, 30-second commercial starring NBA star Damian Lillard and retired NBA-great Tracy McGrady. Titled "Rookie," the commercial showcases the brand new adidas Originals ZX Flux shoe, available now at Foot Locker stores nationwide.
McGrady, who retired from the NBA after a lengthy career and now plays professionally in China, sets himself up for a classic Foot Locker ribbing when he tells Lillard at a holiday party that having multiple pairs of the adidas Originals ZX Flux shoe is a must so "young guys like us" don't get caught looking old.
"Damian and Tracy were great to work with to present some of our newest adidas offerings this holiday season," said Stacy Cunningham, Executive Vice President of Marketing for Foot Locker. "Foot Locker continues to offer first-class, premium products for the holidays, while also providing a platform for star athletes to have a little fun."
"Working with Tracy to promote the adidas Originals ZX Flux in Foot Locker's new commercial was a blast," said Lillard. "His sense of humor about restarting his career oversees is hilarious. I'm not too far removed from my rookie season, and any young player can definitely relate."
The spot was created by worldwide agency BBDO.
