Reports: Blazers Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams To Two-Year Deal

The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly "reached agreement" with unrestricted free agent guard Mo Williams.

USA TODAY Sports

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports on Twitter that the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to sign unrestricted free agent guard Mo Williams on a multi-year contract.

Williams is signing a two year deal with Blazers, source tells Y!

Williams deal will pay him $5.6 million over two years, with player option for second season.

Tremendous summer of roster building for the Blazers.

Ken Berger of CBSSports.com also reports the signing on Twitter.

Mike Tokito of The Oregonian reports on Twitter...

Mo Williams' agent, Mark Bartlestein, confirms the [point guard's] agreement with Blazers. Said previous relationship with [Neil] Olshey, [Terry] Stotts was big factor.

Bartlestein sees Williams serving 6th man role with Blazers. "I think it's going to be a great situation for him."

Mo Williams writes on Twitter...

Portland here I come!!!!!! #playoffs

Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com reports on Twitter...

Damian Lillard on adding Mo Williams via text: "It's a great pickup for us. It's making us a better team."

Dwight Jaynes of CSNNW.com writes...

Earl Watson: don't worry about getting a uniform fitted. You're going to be sitting behind the bench in your best three-piece suit every night. C.J. McCollum: yes, I know you're back at the rookie orientation but this transaction is perhaps more useful in understanding your new career. Welcome to the NBA, rook, your prospective playing time just got cut in half!

The Blazers will be using their room mid-level exception to facilitate this signing.

Specifics of what Portland can offer using their room mid-level exception are as follows, via StoryTeller...

$5.423 million for two years

$2.652 million in 2013-14

$2.771 million in 2014-15 (Player Option)

Williams, 30, averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 assists while shooting 43 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from deep in 46 starts for the Utah Jazz last season. He missed an extended portion of last season after undergoing surgery on his thumb.

Williams' 10-year career has included stops with the Jazz, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers. He was a 2003 second-round pick after spending two years at Alabama.

Williams would represent a 15th guaranteed contract for the Blazers and would join a backcourt rotation that includes Damian Lillard, Wesley Matthews, CJ McCollum, Will Barton, Earl Watson and Allen Crabbe.

My thoughts on the deal, including a grade, are right here.
