Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard sprained his right ankle during the second quarter of a Friday night game against the San Antonio Spurs in the AT&T Center. X-rays were negative and he was listed as "doubtful" to return.
Leonard rolled his ankle after coming down on the foot of Spurs guard Manu Ginobili while attacking the paint and executing a kick out pass to Nicolas Batum. Leonard left the court immediately for the locker room. Further updates when they are available.
Update (Sunday): Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reported on Twitter that Leonard went through warm-ups before a game against the New Orleans Hornets, but that he's not expected to play. That Leonard is already on the court in some capacity would seem to indicate his absence won't be overly long.
Update (Tuesday): Mike Tokito of The Oregonian reports that Leonard will try to give it a go on Tuesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Rose Garden. Leonard missed Sunday's game against the Hornets.
"I'm doing better," Leonard said after the Blazers' shootaround this morning. "My treatment process was really good, and I think I have a shot to play tonight."
Leonard sprained his ankle in a late-December game against the Philadelphia 76ers. That injury cost him three weeks.
