Stu Woo of the Wall Street Journal notes that Portland Trail Blazers All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge ranks No. 2 in the league in field goal percentage this season in the final minute of games when the score is within three points either way (minimum 10 attempts).
Aldridge is nine-for-15 (60 percent) on such attempts this season. Only Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving is better: 11-for-17 (64.7 percent). Others on the "Most Clutch" list include Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari, San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant.
Not noted in the story: free throws are a different beast. Aldridge is just four-for-nine (44.4 percent) from the stripe under the same conditions.
Aldridge hit a memorable game-winner (and a step-back three) in the final minute against the Dallas Mavericks earlier this season.
