Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard hit a last-second game-winner in overtime to defeat the Detroit Pistons, 111-109, on Sunday.
Here's post-game video of Lillard's comments via CSNNW.com.
Here's a transcript of Lillard's comments...
Game winner
"It was a tough game for us to grind out. They played well. We found a way to get it down to that last possession with the ball. He cut off my first move, and one of my assistants told me I was going to have to do a double move. Once he took away my first move, I spun over my other shoulder and I figured he would try to meet me at the basket if I tried to spin, so I just faded away off the spin. It was good d, he had a good content. But I was able to get the shot off."
How did shot feel?
"It felt good. I had a lot of shots I let go tonight that felt good but didn't fall. When that one went in, I was like, thank you, we can finally get out of here. I'm happy the shot went in."
Missed a shot at regulation, preparation for OT shot?
"I knew they would try to over-help, I knew the bigs could come to help and contest any shot at the rim. Once I came off the ball screen, I saw they were scrambling a little bit, making sure their man wasn't going to get the open shot. I basically had him one-on-one. I knew the clock was running down so I tried to take him."
Lillard finished with 23 points (on 6-for-21 shooting), seven assists and three steals. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Blazers with 27 points (on 11-for-25 shooting) and 12 rebounds.
Josh Smith had a game-high 31 points (on 13-for-17 shooting), seven rebounds and four assists.
Portland improved to 21-4 with the win. Detroit fell to 11-14 with the loss.
