Joe Freeman of The Oregonian offers his assessment of the likelihood that the Portland Trail Blazers make a move in advance of the trade deadline.
This is -- and always has been -- a rebuilding season for the Blazers and GM Neil Olshey has long maintained that he will not make a rash move that jeopardizes his long-term vision or wastes his offseason salary cap flexibility. But if the right trade proposal comes along, if Olshey can add a piece to the long-term puzzle without sacrificing his foundation, he would pounce on it. Odds are slim Olshey will make a move -- after all, what bait does he have to dangle in proposals? -- but if he can add some depth, it could be the difference between another lottery-bound season and a playoff berth.
