Here are the results of the 2012 Olympic Men's Basketball Semifinals:
- In a huge second half turnaround, Team Spain defeated Team Russia, 67-59, to reach the Gold Medal Game. Russia led by 11 at halftime, but collapsed in the second half under renewed defensive pressure and hot three-point shooting from Spain. In the final minute, Russia's Andrei Kirilenko missed 3 of 4 free throws to seal their fate. Victor Claver did not play.
- As expected, Team USA easily defeated Team Argentina, 109-83. Not much to say here.
This sets up the Spain vs. USA Gold Medal game Sunday, a rematch from the final game of the 2008 Olympics. Spain, behind a young Rudy Fernandez, kept that game close before the US pulled away.
In Women's basketball, Team USA defeated Team France to win the Gold Medal, 86-50.
