Reports: Blazers Target Omer Asik Agrees To Rockets Offer Sheet

23
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that Chicago Bulls restricted free agent center Omer Asik has agreed to a 3-year offer sheet with the Houston Rockets worth $25.1 million, fully guaranteed. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports that the deal is back-loaded to pay Asik $15 million in the third year. The Blazers reportedly sent a delegation to meet with Asik on July 1 but later opted to agree to a 4-year offer sheet with Indiana Pacers restricted free agent center Roy Hibbert. Contracts and offer sheets will not go official until July 11, once the current free agency moratorium is completed. At that point, incumbent teams will have three days to match on offer sheets and retain their players. Asik, 25, averaged 3.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game for the Bulls last season. The Blazers drafted Asik in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft before trading him to the Bulls.
