Spears: Jamal Crawford Officially Declines Player Option
Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports on Twitter that Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford has officially decided not to pick up his player option for the 2012-13 season.
----------------------------
Guard Jamal Crawford has officially sent his letter to the Portland Trail Blazers to become a free agent this summer.
----------------------------
The Blazers and Crawford recently agreed to extend his deadline for making the decision until June 29 to open up the possibility of a Draft day trade.
Update: Here's Crawford's explanation from Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com.
----------------------------
"I wanted to experience free agency truly for the first time," Crawford told CSNNW.com. "The last two years I've essentially played on one-year contracts and I can't do that to my family anymore. I want a multi year deal."

Jason Quick of The Oregonian reports on Twitter that Blazers GM Neil Olshey said Wednesday night that he hasn't yet received the correspondence.
