Casey Holdahl of Blazers.com notes that TNT commentator and NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal recently compared Portland Trail Blazers rookie guard Damian Lillard to former Blazers guard Damon Stoudamire.
Here's a partial transcript.
Kenny Smith: "It looks like he's doing drills. Two dribble pull-up, one dribble pull-up, get to the rim, reverse layup. It's like he's doing drills that you do in practice. I haven't seen him from his NBA summer camp, against other rookies, NBA preseason, to the four games now, look out of control. That's the difference, he has a poise about him that looks like he's been here before. Who does this guy play like? He seems like he's been in our life before.
Shaquille O'Neal: "I've got it. He plays like a right-handed Damon Stoudamire."
Kenny Smith: "But bigger. Bigger, stronger, better defender.
Shaquille O'Neal: I'm talking about his shooting skills.
Greg Anthony: "He shoots it. Damian can shoot it but [Stoudamire's] is really quick, off the bounce and the catch."
