SportsRadioInterviews.com notes that New York Knicks guard Raymond Felton was interviewed recently on 660 WFAN. The topic of Felton's conditioning came up, as it often does, and he wanted to set the record straight: he was out of shape at the beginning of the 2011-12 season but he was not purposely eating his way out of town.
How do you respond to the reports that you forced your way out of Portland by not caring too much and being overweight?
"No. Now that part was definitely not true. I think anybody, any coach, any player other than ... I ain't going to put that out there. I don't think no coach would say that. No player would say that. It was just the media writing some stuff they didn't know anything about. Only thing was that I came in out of shape. I said that from Day 1. I admitted to it, but I worked my behind off to get my weight off towards the end of the year and second half of the season to have better numbers. I made sure that didn't happen again this year. I came in in great shape and still am."
