Blazer's Edge sponsor invites you to take a free stab at $200 in cash prizes by drafting NBA players for an evening.

Craig Mitchelldyer-US PRESSWIRE

Every once in a while we allow a sponsor to bring you an offer in a dedicated post. Today and Friday of this week is inviting you to a freeroll event so you can check out their site. It's pretty simple. You draft players for Friday night's suite of NBA games, using salary cap space to assemble a team of eight. The games play out on Friday. Players accumulate stats. The top finishers among the Blazer's Edge readership win cash. (Yup, this link is only for folks reading our site!) There's no entry fee. It's simple and fun.

Here's their explanation:

One Day FREE Fantasy Contest - $200 in cash prizes

If you haven't heard yet, there's a new way to play fantasy basketball that turns the season long grind into quick hitting one night leagues. And the best part is that you can win cash every single day. You draft a team for one night and get paid out as soon as the games end that night. is at the forefront of this new trend in the fantasy world and is giving us a great promotion to kick off the season: a FREE one-day fantasy league with $200 in prizes exclusively for Blazers Edge fans.

This free contest will be salary-cap style drafting where everyone tries to assemble the best team out of the available players. You will have a $100,000 budget to build a team of 2 forwards, 2 guards, 2 centers, and 2 utility players. Each NBA player has been assigned a price based on their expected fantasy performance.

You can adjust your roster up until the contest starts on Friday November 16th at 7:00pm ET at which time your rosters will lock and the Live Scoreboard will be available.

I actually played last year in a freeroll they did for SBNation NBA authors. I finished in the money. As I recall, Jamal Crawford hamstrung my lineup, which otherwise was in place to win it all, by laying a big, fat egg in Phoenix. This was one of the first strong indicators that he was bad news.

I remember that in last year's freeroll some folks were wondering why all players weren't available for selection. This draft covers only games played on Friday night. It'll be over after the final NBA horn sounds on Friday and prizes will be awarded then. If a team isn't playing on Friday their players aren't available to draft, since obviously selecting them would get you zero points.

Have fun if you wish. Let's see who walks away with some Christmas cash!
