Eggers: Geoff Petrie Should Replace Rich Cho As Blazers GM

21
Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune writes that Sacramento Kings president and former Portland Trail Blazers executive Geoff Petrie should take over for former Blazers GM Rich Cho, who was fired yesterday. --------------------------- The man the Trail Blazers need to hire to run their basketball operations has sat in the chair before. That’s Geoff Petrie, Sacramento’s senior vice president/operations the past 17 seasons. ... Petrie resigned with coach Rick Adelman’s firing after the 1993-94, landing in Sacramento. Under his guidance, a once-pushover franchise made the playoffs nine times, advancing to the West finals in 2002 before losing to the Lakers in seven games. Petrie was twice named the NBA’s executive of the year. --------------------------- Eggers also writes here the Blazers president Larry Miller and assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff "drove" the Gerald Wallace trade and that Cho could receive as much as $2 million for the final three years of his contract. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
