Blazers Buyout Target Monday Updates
On Thursday, Portland Trail Blazers GM Rich Cho said that the team "might go out and find a center" to add to a roster that now has two open spots created by the Gerald Wallace trade.
John Canzano of The Oregonian reports that big man Earl Barron is the "the leading candidate." The Blazers invited Barron in for a workout back in November after Fabricio Oberto retired, but opted to sign fellow workout attendee Sean Marks. Marks has not yet been bought out by the Charlotte Bobcats.
Update: Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com reports that Barron has signed a 10-day contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Blazers have also recently been linked to other buyout guys: Troy Murphy (here) and Mike Bibby (here). Michael Lee of the Washington Post reports again on Monday that the Blazers are interested in Bibby.
Update: Bibby is now reportedly interested in the Miami Heat after being bought out by the Wizards. Chris Broussard of ESPN.com also reports Murphy could be headed to the Heat as well.
Update: John Canzano of The Oregonian now reports that journeyman center Jarron Collins is "Portland bound." Collins was a camp invite for the Blazers in 2009 but lost out on the race for the 15th spot to guard Patty Mills.
Update: Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports: "Bob Myers, Collins' agent, told The Oregonian Monday night that his client is 'hoping to sign a 10-day contract in the near future' with the Blazers."
