All the way back in January we noted that the Compound Gallery in Northwest Portland was hosting a Portland Trail Blazers-centric art gallery dubbed "Blazermania".
Molly writes with information regarding the sequel show: "Blazermania 2".
Compound Gallery Presents: Blazermania 2
The lock out is over and the season has finally started! Our fearless Captain may be gone (pour some on the ground), but Rip City is ready to rock! Compound Gallery presents Blazermania 2 to celebrate the return of our Portland Trailblazers.
Last year the Blazermania art show was such a success that we had to do it bring it back. Whether it was was the hand made backboards, or the sculpture of Greg Oden in the pose of the Portlandia statue (crutch in hand instead of trident) hoop enthusiast and creatives alike couldn't get enough. Blazermania brought viewers together over two things all Portlanders love: The Blazers and art. This year we plan on building on that dynamism like a slashing Gerald Wallace.
Again numerous local and national creatives come together to create a collection that portrays a artist's perspective and relationship with what the Blazers, and what they mean to the city and Portland's culture.
Blazermania 2 features all new art work by Ryan Bubnis, Taylor Twist, Joel Colley, Colin Strandberg, Will Bryant, Eugene Serebrennikovm, Lonny Hurley, Jess Hirsch, Upendo Taylor, Nicholas Winchester, Julianna Swaney, Samuel Spencer, and Donna Blair.
When: January 5th - 29th Opening Reception Thursday, January 5th from 7 to 10 pmWhere: Compound Gallery 107 NW 5th Avenue Portland, Oregon 97209
The opening reception is the night that the Blazers host the Los Angeles Lakers so if you don't have tickets to the game this would probably be a good place to be. If you check it out, please post or send in a review.
