Freeman: Blazers "Pause" GM Search

Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports that the Portland Trail Blazers are hitting the brakes in their ongoing search for a new GM... ---------------------- According to an NBA source with knowledge of the Trail Blazers' thinking, the team has decided to "pause" their search for a new GM. "To go out and spend a bunch of money on a high-paying GM job doesn’t make sense right now," the source said. "With what has happened the last week or so (in the lockout), it made a lot of sense to put the search on pause." A source also denies the Blazers "reached out" to Dallas' Donnie Nelson and Utah's Kevin O'Connor, as had been reported. ---------------------- Portland's GM position has been left unfilled since former GM Rich Cho was abruptly fired back in May. It's been a long, winding road since then. Blazers president Larry Miller said that interim GM Chad Buchanan would not be considered for the position and later confirmed that he had interviewed multiple candidates without forwarding any of them to owner Paul Allen for a second interview. Blazers COO Sarah Mensah recently made it known that she has nothing to do with the process. -- Ben Golliver | | Twitter
