Transcript: Bill Simmons And Marc Stein Talk Portland Trail Blazers Trade Rumors

On the Jan. 28th edition of The B.S. Report, ESPN.com's Bill Simmons and Marc Stein got together to discuss some trade deadline talk, including a few morsels related to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Here's a transcript of their conversation.

------------------------------
Marc Stein: "[Marcus] Camby and [Andre] Miller are still out there, but Portland is another one of those teams that likes to take its time, doesn't want to panic. I would have thought, honestly, I would have thought they would have made a move by now, but they keep waiting. There's no question that there's interest in those two guys. It looks pretty clear that going from here [LaMarcus] Aldridge, Wes Matthews and [Nicolas] Batum, that's their new core going forward."

Bill Simmons: "Ooh, good luck with that. Here are your 42 wins."

Marc Stein: "You have to give Aldridge some love. That guy has transformed his game. We killed him for years not going inside and now he's one of the top five in the league in scoring inside."

Bill Simmons: "I know, it's been great. I agree. But if those are your best three guys you're not winning a title."

Marc Stein: "No, but they have the assets to get something else. I think that's the point. They're not just going to give Camby and Miller away. Can they turn those chips into something good and their core looks a little better."

Bill Simmons: "I hate to break it to them, but there's not a market for Andre Miller. If you just look at the point guards on every team, what contending team needs Andre Miller? The only one that I can think of is Atlanta, and what is Atlanta going to give up for Andre Miller, for the upgrade for going from Mike Bibby to 34-year-old Andre Miller and then incorporating him into what they're doing. I don't think there's another option. I think Camby is somebody that can fit in a lot more seamlessly and everybody needs big bodies. Man, I'm hoping [Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam] Presti makes the move for him, he didn't want to do it last year."

------------------------------

After that discussion, the idea of the Phoenix Suns trading point guard Steve Nash to the Blazers was broached and then quickly squashed. The concept, however, led Simmons to suggest another type of trade.

------------------------------

Bill Simmons: "I've been talking a lot on Twitter about America and Canada making a blockbuster deal in the country trade machine. I would much rather try to get Vancouver from Canada, but I'm also willing to trade Portland to Canada. I'm open for everything. I just want the two countries to make a deal."

Marc Stein: "Somehow I don't think we can trade one of the best fanbases on the NBA map, as much as I love Vancouver. I don't think we're going to be able to sell that one."

Simmons also had TrueHoop.com's Henry Abbott on as a guest. A transcript of their conversation will be coming later this week.
